Some useful information to know about DIAMONDS!!

Diamonds is rated 10 in hardness in the mohs' scale. It is the only mineral with the degree of this hardness. It is believed that diamond is formed at a great depth in the earth's crust at very hard pressure and tempreture. Diamonds is one of the most valuable gemstones. The market value is determined by the grading system that
Divides it in to different categories. The basic characteristics considered weight, color, cut and clarity.

Diamond cut to the proper proportions allows the greatest amount of light to be reflected from one facet to another then dispersed through the crown.
It is the precision of each facet angle that will affect the amount of fire, brilliance and the ultimate beauty of a diamond. The brilliant or round cut is the most popular. Other cuts such as the marquise, pear, oval, emerald, heart shapes and others are also popular.

The weight of a diamond is expressed in carats. A carat is 0.2 grams and there are 100 points per carat. Because of the great variety of diamonds with unequal clarity, color, and size, carat weight can only be used as just one of the 4 factors to value a diamond.
